EeHaaalo re haaalo!! The moment we hear these words we think of ‘Dayaben swirling around playing garba’ or its that time of the year when we all become Dayaben, gearing up for garba and dandiya dance, don’t we? Long hours of practice in garba classes months before Navratri, tapping feet on songs like “Chhogada Tara”, “Pari Hun Main”, “Nagada Sang Dhol”, “Ghoomar” and more…
Navratri is not just a festival of our faith in Maa Durga but it is an emotion, a celebration and also competition. “Best Dancer”, “Best Dressed”, “Best Couple”, and many more that we compete for. The craziness of these musical glittery nine days is beyond any words. From the sound of DJs to the tap-tap and clap-clap everyone is lost in the rhythm of the garba and dhol.
In anticipation of all this craziness around us, the most important pre-preparation is the outfit and looks for these nine days of Navratri. The blingy-glitterry chaniya choli and lehengas are without doubt the outfit to feel the navratri groove but there are many more elements that you can add to your looks this year. Lets look at the must-haves, essentials or the trends of Navratri for this year.
2018 Trends for Navratri
1. POTLI BAGS
One trend this season is of carrying potli bags with all the traditional attires. These bags have got an appealing and tempting look, which make them a must-have fashion accessory for the style-conscious ladies. Your hand needs to be free while you are dancing away in that crowd. Dump those hand bags and go for the tiny bling that can be tucked around your waist or bangle around your wrist. Need of the night.

In every traditional chaniya choli style of this year, you would surely find colourful Pom Poms attached here and there. Worry not if you are not the traditional choli type you can still be in trend by picking up other accessories in pom-poms like – earrings, bangles, necklace, footwear, blouse embellishments, duppattas and all others that you can think of. Theres no kom-kom (read less) for Pom-Pom, go free and be crazy this year.

3. GUJARATI PRINT JACKETS
If you run out of your innovative Garba outfits, you can still rock the dance floor just as much with these super smart fusion attires. These jackets can do wonders. Clad it over any salwar suit, or jeans, or dhoti, or flared skirts, lehengas, the combinations are unlimited. The best part is you can wear them with both western and Indian outfits.

4. MATHA PATTI
This is one jewelry that is not given its due credit. With the paloo over the head, you do give it a miss most of the time. But this year it’s not just like a small dangling maang tikka hanging on the edge of the forehead but a big chunk of jewelry covering the crown of your head. You can go for this chunky piece and rock both the fusion and the traditional look. One of my favorite pick for the season.

5. KEDIA – DHOTI
Okay, we are not talking about mens wear, we are still in the woman’s zone only. The latest trend this year is the more feminine look of Kedia-Dhoti style for comfort and quick wear. A must have this season.

This year a rising Navratri trend is temporary body painting, or tatto. Mostly it is backless cholis that justifies the looks of a tattoo, while some may even adapt to wear short cholis with a transparent or no dupatta to reveal the tattoo around the navel. The most popular tattoo designs for Navratri is of couples posing with dandiyas or playing garbas. It looks so majestic. Some even opt to get peacock, star, portrait of a woman’s face from side, flowers and even deities designs.
