Last weekend, we went to Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 at Jio Gardens, Bandra Kurla Complex. The most coveted event of the fashion industry in India was a five -day carnival of fashion marvels where you could spot all the prominent and up-coming – designers, models, bollywood celebrities, photographers and media personalities.
The setup was huge with energizing vibes and the bright floral décor was a perfect welcome to summer. There were about four runways, photo booths at every corner (for visitors to feel and shoot like models with the perfect backdrop), a place right in the center to relax and chill, while you are waiting for the shows (absolutely comfortable) and a food and beverage center. The Showroom had mini boutiques where all the designers’ latest trends of the season were on display for the visitors (had a quick glance, as we did not have enough time, definitely a miss-out). In its true sense, Jio Gardens was a spot where you could see fashion not only on the runway but also all around you as even the visitors were dressed in interesting styles, sashaying around in tic-toc heels at their flamboyant best.
We watched four shows of fashion designers – Anushree Reddy, SVA by Paras and Sonam Modi, Shreya Som and Nishka Lulla.
1. ANUSHREE REDDY – COLLECTION ON DAY 04
Her collection was luxurious with pretty colors, delicate embroideries and floral prints, used in sheer sarees and lehengas that is perfect for the festive or wedding season.
Show Stopper – Sania Mirza in a beautiful pink lehenga
2. SVA BY SONAM AND PARAS MODI – COLLECTION ON DAY 04
Their runway collection was rich mostly in florals on lehengas, kurtas, sarees and jackets in hues of cream, gold, white, blue and orange that is perfect for the festive or wedding season.
3. SHREYA SOM – COLLECTION ON DAY 04
Her collection was striking (our personal favorite) with sparkling fabrics in jackets, layer dresses, fringes and ruffled gowns in hues of white and silver that is just so perfect for the party goers.
Show Stopper – Disha Patani in ruffled gown, red carpet look.
4. NISHKA LULLA – COLLECTION ON DAY 04
Her collection was vibrant with easy to wear styles of skirts, tops, tunics and pants in hues of pink that is most suited for the contemporary girl. In association with handbag brand Caprese, the models walked down the ramp with some latest trends in bags for the season – the belt bags.
Show Stopper – Saiyami Kher with a girl next door look.
In between the show intervals we too shot some pictures at the photo booths (though it was hot and sunny) but it was super fun. While taking pictures, we missed our third partner in crime, Deepti as she could not make it to the event due to some prior commitments. Here are some of the best shots of me and Mona.Neha’s Outfit:
Top – Beige Lace top from Wish.com; Bottom – Brown checkered high waist belt pant from 7th Avenue New York
Shoes – Black lace-up heels from Bongo ; Shades – Prada
Top – Beige pleated top from Aakansha Fashions (own brand) ; Bottom – Green print parallel pants from Zara
Shoes – Beige peep-toe boots from Ann Mitchelle ; Shades – X-Brand
Kajal Agarwal was a celebrity audience for Nishka Lulla’s show, sitting right in front of us, dressed in black zipper shirt dress and blue tie-up heels. Towards the end of the day, on our way out we chanced upon taking a selfie with our pretty looking Singham actress.
Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 was a treat to attend but we were super tired and exhausted by end of day. Kudos to the entire team for all the efforts put behind the grand event!
